Chris is a qualified coach having obtained a Diploma in Executive Coaching after 11 years as an Officer in the Royal Navy and 26 years as a partner in a top 50 UK law firm.

Chris’s early professional career was as a chorister at Wells Cathedral, before joining the Royal Navy and heading to City University while in the Royal Navy to complete a BSc in Systems and Management. After 11 years in the Royal Navy, serving on various ships in leadership roles, Chris joined the UK firm of Burges Salmon LLP. Chris was Head of the Employment Department for 12 years before joining the Strategic Board of Burges Salmon LLP initially as Head of International and then serving as the Firm’s Senior Partner (Chair of the Board) for 8 years.

During his time as Senior Partner, Chris led on 2 major Strategy Reviews for Burges Salmon LLP. In the last Strategic Period, Burges Salmon’s revenue more than doubled with profitability increasing by approximately 50%.

As a lawyer, Chris’s specialist area was employment law acting for private and public companies, including a number of FTSE 100 companies, professional service firms and financial institutions; advising CEOs, Boards, Human Resources professionals and General Counsel.

Chris has also chaired a number of Charitable and Community organisations and is currently Chair of the Wells Cathedral School Foundation and a trustee on the Board of The Bristol Music Trust (Bristol Beacon).

Chris has a love of the outdoors and in addition to music, his passions are sailing, skiing, hiking and traveling to remote places.
